Check the injection pump timing. The pmd fsd pump mounted driver is by far the 1 cause of 6 5l no starts at least 90 if your truck experienced random stalling like someone shut the key off before ultimately refusing to start again the pmd is very likely the issue.

Step 4 check the glow plugs.

Engine cranks but wont start diesel. Air is eminently compressible and if there is any of it between the fuel pump and the engine it will not start. Check the batteries are the connections corroded flat or even connected. Injection pump timing incorrect.

If the motor cranks but the truck won t start go to step 4. The diesel engine doesn t have spark plugs like most trucks instead it used glow plugs which are designed to heat up and assist in starting the diesel engine. Do you have fuel in the tank if yes and the diesel generator cranks but won t start.

Replace injection pump if fuel is not being delivered. In a diesel since the fuel is delivered at very high pressure to the engine the design of the fuel pump depends on the non compressability of liquid fuel. They could not be functioning.

Is there water inside the lead acid batteries. Check fuel pump is pumping fuel through the generator. If the engine has the proper compression the proper cranking speed and the proper amount of fuel injected at the proper time the engine will start.

Engine oil in the engine. Is the fuel line cracked constrained bent or ruptured. Then the most likely issue is lack of fuel to the engine.

Worn or malfunctioning injection pump. Loosen the high pressure line at two injectors and visually check fuel delivery while cranking the engine. Any coolant in the engine.

Start with the fuel system basics before a technician can start on any diagnostic problem he or she needs to be aware of how the system works. If your diesel engine cranks but won t start you ve come to the right place.
